400 BC- Ancient Greece
To avenge the death of his only son and heir, King Minos of Crete issued a decree that every 9 years, the city of Athens was obligated to sacrifice 7 maidens and 7 youths to Deadalus’ Labyrinth, to suffer death at the hands of the Minotaur.
Theseus, the only son of King Aegues of Athens, was the first person in history to voluntarily enter the labyrinth, with intent to slay the Minotaur, if the Minotaur did not first slay him.

Labyrinth tells the story of Theseus and minotaur, from the point of view of a maiden who had befriended the minotaur. The music video may make things clearer.
